Travel Purpose: business
Positive: Benita and Per were impeccable hosts. They were very responsive throughout our stay, providing us with many recommendations on things to do, places to visit, where to eat, as well as tips on beautiful secluded sites away from the tourist masses. The hosts have also been generous on borrowing their bikes to go around the island a couple times. The place is perfect for a simple countryside getaway in two. It’s located within walking distance various sites, restaurants, supermarket, boat station etc. It is very clean, with all the necessary amenities. The shower facility nearby is modern, Clean and easy to access. The island itself is a typical island in the Swedish archipelago, with various pine trees, berry bushes, moss, lichens, deers, lizards, marine birds etc. and the Islanders being good stewards for this.
Negative: As with many rural areas in Sweden, you need to exercise a bit of caution when travelling as a non white (i.e. BIPOC). Although most Swedes embrace Allemansrätten as a practice, and many didn’t mind letting us enjoy the nature on their land, there are those that react particularly aggressive to non white trespassers, unwilling to calm down angry dogs until you leave their premises.”
